Enable Social Impact through technology

Enable Social Impact through technology

I recently had the pleasure to work together with my esteemed colleagues Christoph Geier, Andreas Dietze and Jens Schiffer to re-imagine the way that BCG Platinion creates social impact in Europe.

Doing the right thing and creating a positive impact in our environment has always been important for us ever since we have been founded 20 years ago. As we want to give back and shape a more equitable future, we felt like we could do even more to contribute to a greater good and let others participate in our continuous growth. Despite our ongoing corporation with Joblinge, to date our main focus was set on ad-hoc initiatives like craft work, local digital solution implementation or addressing environmental issues by changing our internal behaviors & habits.

Anyone can paint a school - Technology experts are probably the least qualified

These initiatives were a great start, however did not meet our general ambitions to unlock the digital potential of our partners, create long-term partnerships and support them whenever they need us most.

Out of our conviction to do good, we want to drive Social Impact based on what we know best - Technology. Leveraging our core capabilities and combining our strong consulting skills with comprehensive and deep IT expertise, we are uniquely positioned to enable others to focus on their purpose.

To professionalize our ambitions, we defined clear guidelines to ensure ongoing and lasting impact:

  • All future initiatives need to align with our purpose and leverage our core capabilities
  • A certain amount of our annual consulting capacity is dedicated to Social Impact initiatives
  • Prioritization is based on core competency match, impact and potential for long-term partnerships
  • Initiatives will be treated like commercial projects including the same commitment and passion

There are already first initiatives on the horizon and hopefully we get the chance to replace the HR system of a world-wide operating humanitarian medical organization soon. By streamlining their human resource planning system, doctors can focus on what they do best: Spend more of their time with patients and save human lives.

We are excited to contribute to that and other activities, helping to make the world a better place and shape the digital future!
